A new scanner to give photos' location.

A new scanning system tested at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University is said to be able to determine within 120 miles, where in the world a picture was taken. They said that it looks at each photo's composition and compares it with millions of GPS-tagged images contained in the online database of photo-sharing Web site Flickr.
What happened to writing down the place and time of where and when a picture was taken, on the back .

Associated Press plays grinch.

The Associated Press, a cooperative owned by 1,500 daily newspapers, took a surprisingly new position against bloggers who very often quote chunks of its articles in an effort to spark discussions. So last week it sent a letter to the Drudge Retort asking it to remove some items that contained quotations from AP articles.
We all know that newspapers circulations and advertisements are down, but I think the AP went a little too far in this case. What is next ?
The AP telling its members that their readers cannot share a newspaper at the office or at home ?

Irish snub EU.

In a referendum held Friday, Irish voters rejected by 53% to 47% the Lisbon Treaty whose ratification by all 27 EU countries is needed for it to become law of the land. In case you were wondering , the Lisbon Treaty is a decade old sort of Constitution for EU and when adopted , would have among other things, created a presidency and one single diplomacy for the Union.
The lesson here, just like with Florida, never trust an Irish with a ballot.
