Google change of its homepage upsets its users.

Yesterday, Google upsets many of its users by changing its distinctive traditional white background with a customizable picture in an attempt in what is described as an attempt to give its users a certain level of personalization.
I think Google users got upset at it for playing with their nerves with a distracting image instead of providing them a job.

GM is said to be in talk with Google to have Onstar on Android phones.

General Motors is said to be in talks with Google to have its OnStar service on Google' Android phones so drivers could access the system information service even when they are not in their cars.
Why would anyone want to have their crappy GM cars talk to them and remind them all that is wrong with it even when they are not behind the wheel?

Search Ads getting hit by slow economy.

A recent survey by marketing firm Covario, showed that search ad marketing is not immune to the slow economy. The survey of 12 large tech companies found that last quarter, search ad spending rose by the smallest percentage since early 2007 when the survey was first started. The surprising news was that search ad spending with Yahoo by those 12 companies, was up while down with Google.
Experts attribute the Yahoo uptick to its emerging year old Panama search ad service.
When reached for a comment, a Google spokesperson simply said: "Believe it or not, we do give to charities."

Google being sued in India for defamation.

In India, a Small construction equipment company is suing the mighty Google through its subsidiary Google India Private Ltd for defamation. The case arises when a blogger in India using Google's Blogger service, posted some negatives writings about the company concerning its business dealings in the African country called Mozambique, earlier this year. In February, the company in question filed a suit against the Google affiliate, trying to force it to reveal the identity of the blogger. A Bombay High Court deemed the suit has merit and ordered the blog taken down with the deadline to reveal the blogger's identity within the next four weeks. The blog has been taken down, but the Google affiliate has still not revealed the blogger ID.
To that Indian company, a little piece of advice: instead of fighting a lonely blogger, how about working on your Google ranking in search results? Apparently you have too match time in your hands and very few business.

Former Google staffs launch rival search engine.

Two former Google engineers and a former IBM engineer are the three most prominent founders of a new Internet search engine called Cuil -pronounced "cool"- set to launch today. The start-up claim to have indexed 120billion web pages or three times more than Google and is using a different approach to search by ranking pages by their content and not by their popularity. Also, the results are presented differently , looking more like a magazine -style layout rather than a long list of links like on Google.
In case you were wondering which language in hell does cuil comes from ? The founders said it is from the Gaelic - Celtic- word meaning "knowledge" ; and interestingly, it was named Cuill until today when they shaved one of the l. Go figure.
To you Cuil founders, forget all the bragging about this and that and just keep this in mind : after getting the giant's attention , you better deliver and deliver quick. If not , you are just one letter away from a PR disaster : Cuil without the

" i " become Cul and you know what that means in French : Ass.

Google to start measuring web hits.

Google is scheduled to announce a new service that offer detailed measurements of Web sites audiences. The new free service is mostly appealing to advertisers by giving them detailed information about their desired audiences and which sites to target. But the new move leaves some ad executives feeling uneasy. They are scarred to death about Google holding too many cards in its hands .
So fearing for the day when Google or someone else will take the guessing out of buying and placing ads, those ad executives can be heard mumbling :are we there yet ?
