Alaska GOP is pushing for the reelection of Ted Stevens.
Despite his conviction on Monday of seven felony counts, U.S. senator from Alaska Ted Stevens is continuing his campaign for reelection for a seventh term and now the Alaska Republican Party is backing him up. To justify their position, they say re-electing him will allow Republicans to hold onto his seat even if Mr. Stevens has to resign eventually.
Who can blame them? With the actual political and economic climates, trading some dignity for a senate seat seems to be an excellent deal.
